Background
The Department of Community Resources, Office on Aging division, is the county’s designated Area Agency on Aging , is responsible for planning and administering services for older adults. In accordance with the federal Older Americans Act , the agency must develop and submit a comprehensive Area Plan every four years to the Maryland Department of Aging for its designated planning and service area.
The Area Plan outlines how federal and state funding will be used over the four-year period to support services for older adults in Calvert County, including nutrition programs, caregiver supports, information and referral and wellness initiatives. Although the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027-2030 plan covers a four-year cycle, it is subject to annual updates to reflect changes in funding, service needs and program priorities.
Discussion
Approval of the FY 2027-2030 Area Plan is required for the Office on Aging to remain eligible to receive and administer federal and state funding.
