Background

The Department of Community Resources was awarded a Maryland Department of Aging Senior Centers Activites Capital Improvement Grant of $800,000 to renovate and expand the Calvert Pines Senior Center. The Maryland Board of Public Works approved the project at its December 3, 2025 meeting . Before requesting grant fund payments from the state, Calvert County must submit a signed letter from county leadership to include several items.

Discussion

To receive funds from the state, the signed letter from county leadership must be on county letterhead and obtain the following information: the Federal Tax ID , the anticipated completion date of the project, the name of the Senior Center, the award amount approved for reimbursement, and include where to wire funds or note that wire instructions are attached. Upon receiving the signed letter, the department will forward the letter to the state to request reimbursement.
