What the bill says
On the agenda for Board of County Commissioners — 2026-04-28 — 2026-04-28. Agenda section: CONSENT
Background
In 2017, Local Government Insurance Trust ( LGIT) informed our Risk Management Team that the Calvert County Board of Library Trustees is a separate legal entity and as such, they will need to acquire their own general liability and property insurance. It was, at that time, the Board's desire to sponsor the Calvert County Board of Library Trustees to participate in the LGIT program for insurance purposes. The following year, the Board extended sponsorship to the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland.
Discussion
The Board of County Commissioners can request sponsorship of an eligible public entity such as the Calvert County Board of Library Trustees and the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland to participate in the LGIT program. The sponsorship would allow the Calvert County Board of Library Trustees and the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland to receive the benefit of membership pricing. This sponsorship is required with each policy renewal year.
