Background
Calvert County Business Appreciation Week (BAW) will be celebrated on May 4-8, 2026. As a signature Department of Economic Development event, BAW gives the Board of County Commissioners and staff the opportunity to meet directly with business owners, hear their challenges and concerns and identify actions to strengthen the county’s economic environment. In prior years, the week has included networking and educational events, with ambassador visits organized around themes such as new and long-standing businesses, hospitality, agriculture, health care, construction, green technology and women entrepreneurs.
Discussion
This year’s theme, “Celebrate Small Y’all,” will include visits to 15 small businesses, along with a series of events organized and co-hosted throughout the week. Tuesday, April 28 10 a.m. — National Economic Development Week Proclamation Tuesday, May 5 Noon — Lunch at the County Administration Building will be provided by Sip & Stack and will feature a presentation by the owners of Sip & Stack and EZ Thai. 1–5 p.m. — Five Ambassador teams will visit three county businesses each Wednesday, May 6 10 a.m. — Ribbon cutting for House of Grace Salon, 1917 Skinners Turn Road, Owings 3 p.m. — Ribbon cutting for Diamond Noir Collective, 224 Town Square Drive, Lusby 4:30 p.m. — Business After-Hours event at Foster’s Grille, 447 N. Solomons Island Road, Prince Frederick
