Background
The Board of Governors of the Calver t Marine M useum have been working with staff, stakeholders and a consultant to develop a new five -year strategic plan for the Calvert Marine Museum. Previously, the museum’s most recent strategic plan was developed in 2007, making the development of a new one a m ajor priority for both museum leadership and the Board of Governors. We are please d to present this draft plan , which cover s the years 2026 through 2030.
Discussion
A current strategic plan is necessary to maintain the museum’s accreditation with the American Alliance of Museums ( AAM). AAM re quires that the m useum’s parent organization, Calvert County, approve the strategic plan to satisfy this requirement. Ma intenance of the Calvert Marine Museum ’s AAM accreditation enables the museum to pursue grant opportunities and private donations that might or would not otherwise be available.
